A regular monthly meeting of the Chesmont Astronomical Society (CAS) will be held on Sunday, February 28th in the Community Room at National Penn Bank, located on Rt. 23 about 1/4 mile west of the intersection of Rts. 23 and 100. The meeting will be open and free to the public. The meeting will begin at 7:00 pm and end at approximately 9:00 pm. Anyone wishing to assist in setting up for the meeting and/or socializing prior to the meeting is welcome to arrive by 6:30 pm. Refreshments will be available.
Our guest speaker for the evening will be Dr. Elizabeth Praton, Visiting Assistant Professor of Physics and Astronomy at Franklin and Marshall College. Dr. Praton’s talk, Mapping the Universe, will discuss the problem of discerning red-shift space artifacts (objects not really there) in constructing maps of galaxy distributions. We hope you will join us in welcoming Dr. Praton for what is sure to be a very interesting talk. Information about Dr. Praton's areas of research can be found at: http://www.fandm.edu/epraton
